A Summer by the North SeaMerchant Madsen's 19-year-old daughter Amanda is planning to run away from her family's holiday and Madsen himself is at odds with one of the locals when he runs some chickens down. This year there is a new girl on the staff; 18-year-old Fie going to be a kitchen maid, but is immediately promoted by the hotel host. 6. The End of the SeasonSummer is coming to an end at the resort and guests are preparing for parting with the sweet holiday life. Fie is invited to stay for the winter, but is in doubt because of the relationship with Morten. Mrs. Fjeldsø makes a last desperate attempt to find a suitable match for her son Adam, while Weyse abandons his desperate hunt for Mrs Aurland and learns something new about women's psychology. Merchant Madsen sees through Count Ditmar, but still hopes that he will be his son-in-law.
